Collaborations

Tuesday 3rd August

Abagail Reynolds and I met over zoom for our designated one hour chat. We soon realised it was going to be longer than an hour and vowed to meet again in around 6 weeks. We realised we had both submitted green works for the Assembly show in Venice. Abagails work was a paper weight that she made from the remaining batch and seaweed and sand that she gathered for her video project. Her studio is on the beach in St Ives and its not hard to see how well she knows the coastal area - right down to different types of sand at different beaches in the area. The colours of glass change with each location change of sand collection. We talked about nostaglia for times past, opportunities for potential collaboration. Abagails recent work in the wartime commune of Braziers Park School was particularly interesting, she made another video work around this community. We seem to share a fondness for quiet small meaningful and thoughtful material practices and how collectively these types of practices can have a broader impact.
